The three most frequently asked questions we have received are "when is the due date", "are you having a boy or a girl", and "have you picked the name". The first question has been easy to answer, but the last two have not been so clear.
As many of you know, the little one was very uncooperative at the 20-week sonogram. Most couples leave this appointment knowing the sex of their child, but our baby was way too bashful. We did not learn that we were having a girl until about the 37th week when Mindy required some additional testing.
We had been kicking around names throughout the pregnancy. We finally landed on Jocelyn Elise. David was pain (or intentional depending at how you look at it) about the name having a strong meaning, so arriving at this point was no easy task.
Jocelyn from its German roots refers to a tribe, but in Latin it means "joyful, happy".
Elise is the French version of Elizabeth and means "holy and sacred to God or consecrated to God".
Our simple prayer is that we will be willing to turn this child over to the Lord and that He will use this child in an amazing way for His kingdom.
